Needed ... Good action pictures from recent events, If you have something that may be suitable then please send us a copy with details, names, dates and the place!

Needed....Ideas for improving the website, again let us know any changes/improvements you would like to see. We cannot guarantee that everything can be done but all ideas will be considered.

Needed.....Historic Pictures and pictures of the hut(s), Perhaps some of our senior members would be able to provide some great historical commentaries and photo’s

Finally, If you have a design/picture for next year’s membership card please send in soon. Now is your chance to show the world your artistic side.

Some of you will already know that my Psoriasis has been playing up again.
As of Monday (7th) I will be back in Dudley Rd Skin Hospital for 1-3 weeks.

To everyone who attended this years Panti-Fest, you made this a fantastic weekend. Thank you! We were lucky that the weather did not stop us having a full weekend of climbing, caving and walking. And we also managed to slip in some time on the beach. This years Panti-Fest had a couple of things different. A guess the baby competition was run by Jean Smith and a Cave and Crag photo competition was run by Claire Dignon. Val made up a tent of tranquillity and there were face painting for the kids. Gladys was the marquee master and Paul was the DJ for the night. I’d like to thank all of you who helped with the cooking and getting the tables together. And to my co-ordinators, Yvonne, Claire, Inga, James, a very big thank you also.

The buffet they put on for us was well laid out and the food was excellent and the pudding especially went down a treat. And to top it all off, after the food we had a wonderful fireworks display that went on for about 45 minuets. Our view point for the night had to be the best around, high over Matlock Bath looking out from the Viewing room of the Temple Hotel.

Fireworks were not the only things flying through the air either as some chocolate celebrations went around the table and across the room. Lets hope we picked them all off the floor!
As I spent time going around to all the tables, I did get to see every one laughing and enjoying themselves and as that was the aim of the night, I think we succeeded. I just hope everyone had as much fun as I did!

Hopefully we will come over to climb this Wednesday, if we can get a lift with Graham Wales that is as I'm not sure of the route yet.

I see you have a gritstone meet 22nd March, which I assume is Peak district grit and if so would love to come along.

Events can be posted from the bottom of the message posting form. Events can only be posted with new topics, they cannot be posted with replies. When you create a new topic in any of the above forms there will be an option to create a calendar event




Check the box to create a calendat event, the following additonal data entry oprions will appear



When posting an event, the start and end date will default to the current date and the start and end times will default to the beginning and end of the day. A location can be entered, though this is optional.

Please note: events are created in the author's time zone. Thus an event ocurring from 2:00PM - 3:00PM that was created by a user in the Pacific Standard Time zone during Daylight Savings Time will actually occur from 7:00AM - 8:00AM Greenwich Mean Time. When displayed, the current viewers time zone will be used. Thus a visitor in the Eastern Standard Time zone (also during DST) would see the event as occuring from 11:00AM - 12:00PM.

When I got home the hospital confirmed a fracture of the right leg and at the moment I am encased in a caste and enforced therefore to cancel the walking meet to the Derwent Valley planned for the 25th October 2008. This has been produced entirely by the volunteers of the BMC's Midlands Area Open Meeting which is happening on the 4th September 2008 at Solihull.

It's intended to keep you informed of the work they're doing on your behalf. It will also provide additional publicity for local clubs and walls, as well as acting as a means of keeping the BMC in touch with you about local initiatives. We'd welcome your feedback. We're particularly keen to receive contributions from hillwalkers and members about their exploits locally and further afield.

Whether climber or walker, there's no restriction on what you contribute, as long as you think it would be of interest to other BMC members in the area. We intend to publish this about four times a year, between Area Open Meetings. We'd also be delighted to see you at our next meeting (details in the newsletter)

Any feedback would be welcomed, both positive and negative. Although the document is 10 pages long, I have kept it to 1 meg, so there should be no issues with download speed, even those on Dial Up.
